Breakage is a loss of money and time, an affordable risk. But ordinary glass or CR-39 lenses can disintegrate into sharp fragments that may hit the eye, and that is the unaffordable one.
The FDA drop-ball test is mandatory: a 16 g steel ball dropped from 1.27 m onto the lens centre. The lens passes if it does not fracture or shatter. Duravex® and MR-8® both pass.
Every SOL® lens comes with an authenticity card, FOG-ID on the lens (SOL) and a cleaning cloth.
